Will We Ever See a 2018 Fiesta ST in Ontario?
— Car and Driver (@CARandDRIVER) August 1, 2017
With 197 horsepower driving a lightweight, subcompact body, the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST is fun and punchy. Car and Driver calls it a “Perfect blend of engine, handling, affordability, and everyday usability.”
But will this spunky little hot hatch be disappearing from North America?
The 2018 Fiesta will be fully-redesigned as a new generation. Many changes are happening during this overhaul, and one of them could be the markets Ford is targeting.
The Fiesta is a best-seller over in Europe, where the “supermini” segment is booming, but in America, subcompact cars are overlooked as soon as gas prices are low enough to justify buying a truck. A program manager at Ford Germany (Ford-Werke GmbH) even told a Romanian automotive news outlet that the next-generation Fiesta would only be marketed in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, though Ford has yet to officially confirm (or deny) it.
Like Car and Driver, we’re hoping the party continues, and the 2018 Fiesta will have its day at Citrus Motors.
